to look the other way,
beaten down...
stay on the other side,
sold...
into slavery after being
abolished for decades,
new generations...
tend the fields,
work the factories,
mend the clothes,
righteous wealthy pay
minimum wage...
destined to be destined
to be in servitude,
humbled...
we die in secret never
seeing the light
on the other side,
never understanding why
we were given a chance
to survive,
forced to live like we did.
