memories grown from a
proper upbringing
slide easily onto the pantry shelf;
unattached and distant,
her friendships grow in the spring;
her fears are grouped
together like students who need
appropriate, individual treatment,
and mental discipline
on alternate Mondays, yet,
otherwise consistent;
she is a maiden in distress,
in search of someone
to whom she can belong.
