Predators

in the year(s) of our beginning

we were one and the same,

taking no more than was needed for survival;

but, gradually we evolved and

began to consume more and more

and in our greed and self-envy,

we destroyed our hope and salvation,

becoming worthless predators

no longer a species worth saving.
