A Reluctant Dawn

a dark blue translucent dawn has
become the curtain for the day
and we must await its dawning;
if it were to be sooner than later,
many would be grateful,
but, many would not, I fear;
dawn dickers around too much
with its receding shadows,
even though it will soon have none,
except those created by the sun,
whose path is steady and consistent.
