From 1984

Our Wills

we superimpose our wills
on each other like two
underexposed negatives;
one supersedes the other
false pretenses bypass
obligations and individuality
replaces one's loyalty;
we succeed in failing
to be what the other needs
like two children whose
love-hate relationship
seesaws indiscriminately
while our testing of wills
has some kind of mysterious
bond on our weak love.
