on the sidelines we are
the dream plays out
behind our backs...
reach out we do
slapped down we are
taxes and inflation
low wages offered
others score wealth
labors belittled
promises made
ignored they become...
silly are we again
thinking differently,
vulnerable and vindictive
we gather in streets
carry signs and protest
nothing is nothing
given to us freely...
the nation leans towards
the wealthy
the influential
those who score daily,
leaving us behind
looking back never
maybe over shoulder
wondering why we
have such contempt.
