Beach Time
army green saltwater flows
with white caps nor easterly
into Carolina's shoreline,
menacing undercurrents move
unseen objects along, changing
those who play in its waters;
white trimmed umbrellas dot
the coastline as tourists from
east and west - north and south
assault these beaches every summer,
an invasion of those who dream
for something different from
where they have been living,
searching for that which has
been hiding inside them all along,
attitudes they bring with them
adjustments they attempt to unleash,
poisonous influences not realized,
only time can disrupt them
being as precious as it is, not to
ignore... and yet... it is time
that always wins us over now.
