facing south
under an umbrella
slanted west
a senior citizen sits,
with no aspirations
or illusions
this trip might just
be the last one...
memories flood his
consciousness,
of times years ago
and those sooner,
details fuzzy
sometimes wrong as
the thoughts haunt
and tantalize,
young4er generations
play around him,
kicking sand into
feeble awarenesses
feeding his stubborn
nature of alienation,
wondering if he will
stay alive long enough
to show his anger.
