hiding behind the folds
of obese mentality, my
thoughts still occur to
me and someone else
as feared years ago by
those who taught me
not to care at all anymore;
standing in the shadows
of sublime indifference,
my tired eyes see the
hypocrisy of faith and
power that fuels our
greed and our futility;
conspicuous consumption
now labeled quite fondly
as conscious capitalism
evokes a gentile side to
our inherent corrupt natures
as we rather feebly attempt
to defend ourselves from
those who own our debt.
