New Age Old

stone lays the foundation
of the fireplace,
rustic and quaint and
too old for modern tastes
as we have confined ourselves
to the new and brash,
unknowingly realizing
our own years will fall away
into the background or
into the boot of a Porsche
as our generation
drives off into the death
of its own event horizon.
