On Holiday

the sun's birth
has not yet
occurred
but there is
light enough to see
and the sounds
of sight push
their way onto
the shore
as if
"rush hour" traffic
has been allowed;
people troll
the shore as boats
troll the reefs,
looking
for shells and fish
to sell locally
or maybe,
they are all
just
on holiday.
