down through the ages, it passes
from father to son
from mother to daughter,
behaviors and traits used for success
thoughts and actions used for accomplishments,
legacies if you will on how to
survive life as if unfolds, whether
pleasant or unpleasant,
good or bad,
right or wrong...
we learn how to dress, cook, and repair
we learn how to mend, grow, and harvest,
years of knowledge passing from
one generation to another as if
it were some ritualistic requirement
or dishonor the family name...
we break free of the mold that binds us
to the past, forging our own destiny,
and sharing with our offsprings
what we think they need to know,
without thinking that their evolution
like our own is independent of our previous
family while being unmistakenly similar.
