with eyes wide open
with thoughts clear and pure
with a will that defines
who I am... who I've become
and who I will be tomorrow;
into this day, I go willingly
my sight has changed
my hearing weakened
my body vulnerable
my thoughts distorted...
into this day, I was born
with a freedom unique
to my own ideas...
awaken into the new world
no longer recognizable
no longer sane...
rolling over and over with
the guilt of ages given
to us by our ancestors...
into this day, I go blindly
feeling what is ahead
sensing our demise
wondering how we allowed
ourselves to get here.
