minutes are left on the doorstep unwrapped
hours remain in bed refusing to awaken
days turn on each other with contempt
weeks wait on the corner for school buses
months continue to be misunderstood
years pass too quickly into decades and
decades measure unfairly lost lives
history is the legacy we leave our children
so, they can spend their time trying to
understand what they are supposed to learn.
