Daily Assasinations

each day builds upon the last
like some cumulative learning
experience that is retained,
but against all our wishes;

each day allows us to be that
which we were not yesterday,
if and when we are of a mind
to actually move in that direction;

each day ages us and our bodies
in a way that our destinations
arrive by air freight rather
than by a fast railroad;

each day allows us to dress
in clothes never seen before,
providing that the currency and
exchanges rates favor us;

each day gives some of us hope
while other cling to despair,
as protectors guard our backs,
measuring us for coffins;

each day is just another day and
depending upon where we spent
the previous night, will predict
how this new day will unfold.
