Strictly Southern

fake fire places in
Southern homes add
to the illusion of warmth
and comfort that we
hear so much about
when we want to listen;
dreams roll in and out
on the Southern tides,
leaving  no stones turned
in their path as if the
destiny of hospitality
shipped out in the last war;
caretakers shuffle
from one task to another,
baiting hooks just in case
the blues run, but the
rise of what once was,
will never rise again.
