Without Memories

we are out memories

their sum total,

good or bad

indifferent or relevant,

we are them and

they are us in

how we see ourselves

and all of that

which brought us here;

we are defined by memories

judged by memories

labor under false memories

and sometimes

simply cannot remember

what was experienced

or what was felt

damaged or implied

as uncertainty clouds

our memories,

their accuracy and

appearance and

the facts around which

we have based our lives

up to this point and

into the future;

we are void of our

history and how our

past influenced and

created our insanity.
