Closed are We

open are our minds to
things we know or perceive,
closed they are to those
things uncertain...
we believe that which
we are told and not to
that which we are not 
told - not thinking for
ourselves are we allowed.
mother jones knew this
all too well...  she shared
not her wisdom before
leaving us - we are
forever scorned by her
enemies, taking over
our lives as if they were
our father knowing best.
we are open and free
for those we believe as we
but closed to those not
believing as we do anymore.
