Treatment

on the surface
of my upper body,
sweat beads up like water
on a freshly waxed metal surface,
as heat penetrates and
permeates my body,
leaving me dizzy and faint;
on the surface
of a cold tile bathroom floor,
my body reclines on its side,
my sweaty face,
lies on my upper arm,
my mouth sucks in air
and quickly expels;
rolling waves of nausea,
from my abdomen
crash through my body,
like sand on a lonely beach,
leaves me longing for the expulsion
that never seem to arrive;
intermittent chills of
shivers and tremors convulse
uncontrollably throughout...
then there is calm...
a brief respite of relief,
before it starts all over again.
