Cycles

once again
light
penetrates
the
darkness,
like a knife,
and a
temporary
darkness
covers the world
as others
bury the
light;
and,
in the wake
of each
passing
cycle, we
acknowledge
fear
as well as
pleasure,
hoping
it ends
as
it began,
returning us all
to the
life we
knew
before our
birth.
