Looking Out

unfamiliar patterns

drift by helplessly

dark and light

sometimes darker

rolling swells and valleys

and underneath

without light at all;

and, it is difficult

to understand that we

are upside down,

and yet, no water

passes into the sky

nor at that point

where the two

seem to embrace.
