Fueled Doubts

closeted feelings leap out
like a jack-in-the-box

when confronted under the
right set of circumstances,
hurting those around us due
to our previous silence;
yet, we do so anyway to
protect our own self worth
and because we seem to
feel more accepted now...
when acceptance is only an
illusion of equality in a
world that thrives on hate
and discontent fueling all
of our self doubt realities.
