Birthright

hate fills the air
as people walk to work
expecting to take the train
when all they can
afford is the bus;
envy surpasses jealousy
as crowds fill the stadium
expecting to see
football when soccer
is being played;
the road of misunderstanding
is paved with the same contempt
that was present in hospitals
when all of us were born.
