Getting There

the boat in which
        we paddle is our
                 mental journey home,
                      as it takes us everywhere
                           we do not want to go,
                                hoping we will forget
                                     those destinations we desire
                                          in favor of a more scenic
                                               route that may not
                                                    get us there at all.
