an artic blast blows the birds off course
brings the tourists into the south where
warm air seems to last all year... the
area that was settled by those who were
released from british prisons, seeking a
new life in a new country with new
inhabitants who had lived here before;
an artic winds blows memories in from
the past that we tried to hide so that our
futures would be more pleasant but
which brought us only despair in the
retelling... as we hoped no one was
listening but they heard anyway and
gave us the evil eye for our way of life;
an artic tunnel is formed in the upper
atmosphere extending down into the
gulf where all the hurricanes come to
die each fall... we see the remnants all
around us as we try not to escape but
rather embrace our futile inheritance.
