the curtain's black light,
dark walls encompass,
floors without carpet insulate,
leather holds tightly,
cats curl cautiously,
coffee bubbles into a glass,
Saturdays serve us well.

too long too close,
never intended together,
forced friends who learned
differences along the way,
survived innocents captured
by disagreement oftentimes
loom heavy within the minds
historically vacant coupled
but emotionally sound apart.
