pretense for rain or so the
sailor's song tells us;
we prepare not, but go
about our business without
a care in hell for protection
and the children we conceive
in the process have the
instincts to follow our
unfortunate lead and examples;
fully uploaded the sky sends
an unpleasant message to us all,
lest we escape through death
before lives become forfeit...
the luck of the draw,
the song says as it plays out,
and we play our dealt hand,
as if we knew the outcome
but brought an umbrella
with us just in case.
