With This Power

we are new victims to
this way of life,
easily exploited and
manipulated for the benefit
of the whole
as we have been told,
but as always,
it has become a
Greek myth when we
talk with other strangers,
who live across the
boarders of our lands...
lands taken away
from us
like the natives who lived here first
and are no more;
we are bound
like Ulysses to a fictitious mast
and mentally flogged
into submission,
following those
who follow others
who raise our sails
and captain the ships
to unknown ports,
lands...
and territories
whose inhabitants live
in peril or perceive
it to be, and we cannot
help ourselves as we so
courageously help them
to become victims as well.
