we move in circles
around and around
never catching tails
but always moving
always gaining
on the day before
and the
day before that one;
we are habitual creatures
with minds and souls
not our own but
out on loan like a
naughty
post hole digger
who moonlights
digging graves for those
too possessed to live;
we gather in packs
of two or more,
mating,
as often as we can
and with whomever
as if we are in a
serious competition
for survival,
knowing they will be
cared for since
life is unfamiliar
outside of our
protective boarders.
