Regret Begets Actions

far above our mental jurisdictions
lies the sobering realities of a
pragmatic world where results
justify actions and ethical dilemmas
become just two words found in
a dictionary written by those who
win Pulitzers for heroic prose, read
by those with eight grade educations;
far above those self-destructive clouds
now lives the innocent whose journey there
was paid for by the price of a loaf of bread,
broken and shared on Sabbaths in
memory of all our forgotten souls who
toil in tedious times trickling down
into the economies of those who
wrote it first and whose mind's images
remain as solid as concrete yet still
needing it all to be done on time.
