as our words knife out,
hoping to slash
a phrase we did not
want to hear while
intentionally hurting
other words carefully placed;
resentment
channels inward
like lava streams
creating tubes of distrusting
burrowing deeper due
to low viscosity;
and then,
we decide quite vividly
that time heals "Nada"
nor cools heated exchanges
just as water slips through
fingers, trying to hold it.
