family lives in the head
but not in the heart;
it lays on the ground
like rotting acorns;
it floats laboriously in the air
like rain clouds;
it cracks under pressure
like concrete without steel;
it languishes in wading pools
like little children;
it slithers on the ground
like a wounded snake;
and, it devours the love
resulting from our birth.
