Mossy Creek

there is a mossy creek
in every memory
of every mind
in every place
running water floors
and we all
sit on its banks
dangling our feet
as we think romantically
of a time in our lives
yet to be
and oh so vividly
and imagine
but always disappointed
when we look back on
the mossy creek memories
years after years later,
and so easily realize
life imitates dreams not,
but dreams explain life.
