prevent exposure but
not erased attitudes as
they last longer that a
lifetime of winds that
had carried them away;
cheated memories fall
by the wayside, like
bad cotton picked on
a cold day and each
word is etched into our
minds like cattle branding,
and isolated like all the
tearful joys of intimidated
hate and rage too outrageous
to bear spitting out like
watermelon seeds at those
who might be in our way.
