we honor slaves and
thieves and runaways
and when we are done,

we will honor you for
all the work begun
on discovering these
injustices and in making
them all right and in
making them all clean
and in making them
open for discussion
and of course reflection
at a time when we
can and will erect buildings
in their honor and
in their memories proclaim
how far we have come.
