many a rule broke
many a fortune lost
but no recognition comes my way
since I am not famous;
but what is fame
other than public notoriety
for a skill given
or a talent born
that few knew about
but with which identified;
a hardship born
ridicule righteously received
reborn and returned
and year later
recognized by peers
who heard but cannot remember
but clap anyway and praise nonetheless
as it becomes the thing to do;
and, I wonder why
all those others who
were there as well and endured
only received condemnation for
their radical behavior.
