Headaches

inside the fabric of the mind
fiber stands intertwined
in an interlocking way
transmitting feeling neurons
from side to side, in the hopes
of creating mental stability,
but instead, erratic pulses
create mental confusion
and disorientation as
frayed fibers flounder and
the ensuing headaches
surround the frontal scalp
and around to the sides,
maddening and relentless
shafts of pain, passing
slowly in time or so it seems,
as life squeezes out of it,
wrapping itself around
what mental fiber remains.
