Inclinations

habits stretch our imaginations

limiting ourselves to two drinks

wearing shirts and ties on Sundays

parking is a distant corner lot and

tossing over our shoulders when in doubt;

we cross our fingers when telling lies

but only when it is convenient and

never to a Nun or Priest unless necessary

as we do not want to cross the line

more than we absolutely have to; 

leaders not following our advice go hungry

in the wake of their own precedents

and gluttony warms our enemy's bellies

so we can go on diets and keep our figures

hoping to marry as soon as we are of age;

nature lives inside our minds just as

we live inside nature's soul as the

ancients feast upon their limitations

and the inclinations of the fittest are

not the ones to survive but the ones

bestowed upon to be the most desperate.
