taking away from one and giving
it to another who we believe just
might deserve it more... we
torment ourselves with self-
righteous rants about what we
should or should not be doing
with the life we have been given;
we pray to the gods that they
will revisit us again with new
and improved knowledge so
that we may better understand...
we bury our dead in the same
holy ground in which our father's
buried their dead and their father's
before them did the same as well;
we send our children to the best
schools we can provide in the hopes
they will have a better life and will
give a better life to their children...
we thinm not about our future
nor do we grieve over our past
as we concentrate on here and now
making sure there are not rats;
we harbor no ill will towards anyone
nor do we expect the same towards us
yet it arrives on our doorsteps every
morning as we sweep away the
memories of our forgotten lives.
