down his driveway...
his figure is clearly seen
but not the details...
life wonders if his claim to it
is still worth keeping or
if it is time to call him hom...
we watch with trepidation
aware that our names appear
on that list as well...
a male figure tosses metal shelving
onto a concrete driveway
not concerned with the noise it makes
or if anyone is listening...
we watch without understanding
as to his motives for this
impolite behavior but accept the fact
that he is paid by the hour...
a male figure sits on his back porch
and observes the activities taking
place within his community
and comments not to himself
nor to his friends... we watch
and applaud his efforts as we know
that life has been kind to all of
them even though they are all
indeed very much different.
