In-between the branches
and the leaves is darkness
that the eyes takes for
granted but the palette of
the painter knows all too well,
making sure it is there; and,
in so doing gives perspective
and depth-of-field to the
image seen by the viewer,
who appreciates the outcome
but not the delicate task.
