how quickly the waves move into the shoreline
how cool it is under the umbrella
how nice the breeze feels blocking the sun;
typical days here we suppose
playing in the sand and surf
carefree and careless in our relentless
determination to have fun;
how hard the chair seat feels in the afternoon
how much sand is attracted by the lotion
how parched our lips feel without licking
how tired the eyes feel behind glasses;
the days seem endless with nowhere to go
rumors of neighbors sitting too close
mermaid lifeguards walking pretty
rent or not rent is the only question we answer.
