No Interference

sea sprayed stained windows
in front of me,
steamy solarium sun heat
cloaks my shoulders,
distant mountains sit horizontal
snow-capped peaks
have avoided the glaciers;
water and sky meet
at the horizon,
differentiation not there...
seals lay on icebergs

killer whales encircle
and high above it all
a lone eagle preys
from the air on
surfacing fish that have
learned their lessons;
observe, but no interference
is the rule here
in Southern Alaska
and while no Mounties appear
we are on our own
as we glide by in the water
sitting in our lounge chairs
behind glass barriers that have
seen too much already.
