Corridors of Time

the past converges on the future
creating the present that is so often
misunderstood as being truthful;
the past lies so that the future can
proceed unmolested in its action
that so easily predicts our faith;
our present bends its will to
accommodate its voracity while
protecting the unabashed fabrication;
journeys end and begin on the
timeline of uncertainty and bow
only to the crowds who feed them;
we are the travelers of our past
hoping that our future improves
the conditions we live in today;
we are the victims of illusions
that harbor no ill will other than
believing in our limited purpose.
