a fence of magnolias protects on the right
a privacy fence on the left
a road have been paved directly in front
and to the back is an acre of grass;
life in the country is quiet and serene
when it wants to be and otherwise
when certain holidays roll around as
seen in December, July, and October;
helicopters fly by to hospitals
construction crews build new houses
dogs bark behind enclosures
birds squawk at slinking yard cats;
coolness sweeps down into the valley
as we move from summer to fall
and when there is no wind blowing
sitting outside is rather comfortable.
