they were home
they had never left
how reassuring
how silly to think otherwise
it was unusual
it was bizarre
all knowing and
altogether wrong.

it was a Sunday easy day
relaxing and unofficial,
it was a blue sky day
after days of blackness,
it was a dull sensation day when
the note said you'd walked out on me.

"that was a pisser,"
he said looking over at
her lying there dead.
4.
they sat in the middle of a group
so that no one will sit so close
on either side while many of us
sat on one side so more of them
could share the seats with us.
5.
we spend each other's money
waste each other's time
and drive each other crazy
chasing our dreams like a
dog who runs after his tail.
6.
it was cold and black this morning
and the change in weather gave me
on of those headaches that stay with
you all day, otherwise, it was great.
7.
she had a sarcastic streak
longer than the bad smell of
spring farming fertilizer.
8.
she was different than the rest
a little more respectability
and I didn't really want her to
have much of that because
she wouldn't be seeing me.
9.
it was a game we played
pretending to care when
all we wanted was company
and not to be left alone.
10.
frozen precipitation falls
on the ground... crystal
encasements until the sun
grew warmer... surrounding
tree limbs like the cold
did us and too cold to warm.
